The Senate also processed a broad set of routine legislative and administrative business. Fourteen bills were introduced on subjects including child care funding compliance, corporate stock buybacks, foreign-trade zones, precision agriculture cybersecurity, energy permitting, foster youth legal services, defense spending, immigration free speech protections, and reserve-component service. Numerous transportation and pipeline safety rules were transmitted to the Senate and referred to the Commerce Committee, while the chamber also agreed to allow Emancipation Hall to be used for a Semiquincentennial Congressional Time Capsule ceremony.
